OPSA Payment Policy (Updated 3 January 2026)

At OPSA, we are committed to providing families with accessible, affordable, and transparent educational services. Our fee structure and payment policies ensure clarity and fairness while supporting our members and maintaining the quality of our programmes.

1. OPSA Products

OPSA offers two distinct product types:

  • Assessment-Only (Once-off Purchases)
This option is for families who want CAPS-aligned assessment and formal reporting without subscribing to membership. Each assessment is purchased and paid for once-off per selected assessment type/period/grade.
  • Membership (Subscription-Based Access)
This option is for families who want access to the OPSA learning programme and platform resources on an ongoing basis, aligned to your selected membership category.

2. Assessment-Only Options (Once-off)

Assessment-Only purchases are pre-paid per assessment (not monthly membership).

Assessment options include:

  • Termly Assessments (Once-off per term)
Purchased per term, per learner, in Afrikaans or English. Intended for families who need periodic assessment and reporting while following their own programme and schedule.
  • Annual Assessment (Once-off)
Purchased as a once-off annual assessment option (where applicable). Used when a family wants an annual assessment outcome and reporting as a single product.
  • End-of-Phase Assessment (Once-off)
Purchased as a once-off assessment option (where applicable). Used for end-of-phase reporting and the related formal outputs.

Assessment delivery and outputs (general):

  • Online quizzes and/or uploaded written tasks (completed under parent/guardian supervision).
  • Marking by a SACE-registered teacher (where applicable to the assessment type).
  • Official report issued after marking.
  • Merit certificate for qualifying averages (where applicable).
  • Promotion letter issued for the applicable final assessment route (where applicable).

3. Membership Options (Subscription)

Membership is pre-paid and provides ongoing access based on the selected category.

Membership options include:

  • Monthly Membership (Pre-paid monthly)
Paid in advance for the upcoming month/cycle. Membership renews according to successful payment/collection.
  • Annual Upfront Membership (Pre-paid annually)
Paid in advance for 12 months. A discount may apply for annual upfront payment (where offered and confirmed on the invoice/registration).
  • Trial Membership (If offered on the selected plan)
If a trial is offered (e.g., 14 days), no membership fee is taken during the trial period. After the trial ends, the first collection/invoice will include:
    • a pro-rata portion from the trial end date up to the first debit date, plus
    • the full fee for the next full membership cycle, in line with the selected membership category.

4. How the OPSA Pre-Paid System Works

OPSA operates on a pre-paid basis to keep billing transparent and to ensure services are delivered against settled fees.

A. Assessment-Only (Pre-paid rules)

  • You select the assessment type (termly/annual/end-of-phase), grade, and language.
  • An invoice is issued for that once-off assessment purchase.
  • Access to the assessment and/or marking process is enabled once payment is received/confirmed.

B. Membership (Pre-paid rules)

  • Membership fees are payable in advance for the upcoming cycle (monthly or annually).
  • Invoices are issued according to the membership billing cycle (commonly monthly).
  • If a payment/debit is unsuccessful or not received for the upcoming cycle, access may be limited until the account is brought up to date.

5. Fees and Discounts (Policy Principles)

  • No Joining or Administration Fees: No joining/admin fees are charged on enrollment.
  • Consistent Fees (Legacy Pricing Where Applicable): Where OPSA offers “price-lock” for existing/legacy members, the fee paid at enrollment may remain in place for that membership stream unless otherwise communicated.
  • Family Discount (Multiple Children): Family discounts may apply based on OPSA’s published rules at enrollment.
  • Referral Discount: Referral incentives may apply as a once-off discount after a successful referral enrollment, subject to OPSA’s referral rules and verification.
  • Tutor Centre Discounts: Tutor centres enrolling multiple learners may qualify for discounted arrangements by agreement.

Note: Exact pricing is determined by the product selected (assessment type or membership category) and is confirmed on the invoice and/or registration form at the time of purchase.

6. Suspension and Service Continuity

  • Membership: If fees for the upcoming cycle are not received/collected, services may be temporarily suspended or limited until payment is made.
  • Overdue Accounts: Where an account becomes overdue (e.g., unpaid invoices older than 30 days), access may be suspended. Accounts overdue by 60 days without communication may be terminated.
  • Reactivation: Reactivation requires settlement of the outstanding balance and may require administrative verification.

7. Financial Hardship Assistance

If you experience financial difficulty, contact us as soon as possible so we can evaluate practical options (where feasible), such as payment arrangements, temporary deferrals, or other solutions based on the circumstances.
